The MyOcean2 project and service is organised in the following manner with distinct coordination, governing, executive and  advisory bodies.

 

GOVERNING BODIES include the Board (chaired by the Project Coordinator -- dealing with strategic issues) and two advisory bodies that report to the Board – the Scientific Advisory Committee (made up of experts from the international research community from both the MyOcean consortium and external organisations ) and the Core User Group (CUG).


EXECUTIVE BODIES
include the Project Management Office directed by a Project Manager. The project office ensures the daily management of the project (including sciencitic validation, funding, planning and communication). The Executive committee (chaired by the project manager and composed of Work package leaders) monitor the development of Work Package activities and make eventual corrective decisions to ensure timely achievement of the project.

MyOcean2 governance


PROJECT DEVELOPMENT TEAMS are composed of 19 Work packages:

11 Production units generate and operate Observations, model-based data, and added-value products:

  • 4 Thematic Assembly Centres (TAC), dealing with a specific set of observation data: Sea Level, Ocean colour, Sea Ice & Wind, and In-Situ data,
  • 7 Monitoring and Forecasting Centres (MFC) to serve the global ocean, the Arctic area, the Baltic Sea, the Atlantic North-West shelves area, the Atlantic Iberian-Biscay-Ireland area, the Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea.

7 central Work packages manage Service Evolution, central Information System, User Uptake, Outreach, Communication&Training,  Product Quality, Multi-Year Assessment and Scientific Evolution.R&D, Calibration, Validation and Central Engineering.

Coordination and Management are led by the WP1.
